This is from Sue’s own family tree. Her connection with the Sutherland family stems from the marriage between Donald Sutherland and Jane Gordon and beyond. Donald Sutherland was the brother of James Sutherland – who is our direct line.

A young Martin Munro 1903-1984. He married Mary Sutherland . He became the Manager of the Bank of Scotland in Hamilton.
This is Duncan Sutherland Munro in later life. He served in the Royal Navy and became a Honorary Physician to the Queen in 1981. He is Denis Madigan Stanton’s second cousin. He is the grandson of David Sutherland [above]

THE communal line DAVID SUTHERLAND 1799-1867 and ISABELLA MUNRO 1804-1864
David Sutherland in this Parish and Isabel Munro in the Parish of Tain were married 10th June 1826
Census entry 1851 Parish of Fearn with David Sutherland, Head age 51 born Cromarty. Wife Isobel born Tain, Their children Donald, James Ann, Angus and George born in various locations, Fearn, Tarbert and Edderton.
Ten years on and the family at the bottom residing at the Agricultural Labourers House (Balnagall) David Sutherland Head Married 60 Agricultural labourer Cromarty, Cromarty Isabella Sutherland Wife Married 57 Rosshire, Tain Alexander Sutherland Son unmarried Agricultural labourer 20 Rosshire.
When Isabella died in 1864 the address given was Mount Eagle, Fearn.
