Watt, George (24/08/2010) obituary
WATT, George December 3rd, 1922 to August 24, 2010 George passed away suddenly at his home in James Bay. He was predeceased by his loving wife Mabel in June 2009. He is survived by his family. Sons: Chuck Edinburgh, Scotland, Dave (Julie) Saskatoon, Sask. Daughters: Linda Campbell (Doug) Victoria BC and Sheila Knihnitski, North Battleford Sask. Grandchildren Stewart & Derrick (Chuck) Saskatoon; Darren (Linda) Vancouver; Scott (Linda) Victoria; Carey and Christopher (Dave) Saskatoon; Candice (Sheila) Calgary; Jason (Sheila) Saskatoon. George was born in Edinburgh Scotland and served in the RAF during the war. He was a baker and a lorry driver. He moved his family to Saskatoon, Sask in 1958. He retired from the Dairy Producers Coop in 1988 and they moved to Victoria BC. He was a man not afraid of hard work and successful in everything he attempted to do. His second job was painting and decorating. Both him and Mabel loved ballroom dancing, they started a dance club together and they started catering. He was a very talented artist. His life took a very different turn once his beloved wife Mabel had Alzheimer’s. He moved a block away from the care home she was in and he spent the majority of his time there as she was his life. He was very involved with the Central Saanich Seniors Centre as a lifetime member and was very involved with staff and patients at James Bay Lodge. The family wish to acknowledge and thank all those that were such an important part of George’s life. We know that he is now up there happily dancing with Mabel from cloud to cloud. A memorial service will be held at First Memorial Funeral Chapel, 1155 Fort Street on Monday, August 30, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. with a reception to follow. George will be cremated at his request and will be taken along with Mabel to be interred in Saskatoon.Published in the Victoria Times-Colonist on 8/27/2010
